Synopsis:
It’s David vs. Goliath – but not a slingshot in sight! When shepherd boy David is prophesized to become the next king… heck, he’d rather be a rock star, anyway. Not that tough guy Goliath’ll let some freakin’ sheep-lover take the crown, setting the stage for the biblical rivals to clash in an epic Guitar Hero battle! Following a successful run in the UK, this family-friendly rock musical takes on the issue of bullying as it spins its tale of a little guy who must overcome obstacles, face fears and finally: Stand Tall! www.standtallmusical.com

SEEKING:

[BLACK SHEEP]
Late 20s-30s Female, Non-Caucasian (possibly Afro-Caribbean). Black Sheep is wise and mystical, a mother earth character, but voluptuous and sexy. In many ways, she drives the narrative of the show, guiding David through his ups and downs. Essentially she’s the golden thread throughout the show and flirts with the audience when necessary. Has to deliver several big rock songs and a rock ballad. A big, powerful range is a must – think Aretha Franklin / Tina Turner. Highly versatile pop/MT performer

[DAVID]
Late teens – mid 20s Male. David is young and good looking with a solid pop vocal sound and a boy band feel to his appearance. He is confident but sensitive and finds it difficult to understand and express his emotions. Part of his dilemma in the show is his coming to terms with leaving adolescence and entering adulthood. Ability to play guitar a plus. Please indicate guitar experience in submission. Pop/Rock Tenor

[GOLIATH/GUARD]
Late teens – mid 20s Male. Should be a strong actor with great comedic timing. Tall, and heavily built. Goliath is a disturbed young man, aggressive and unpredictable, with an edgy look and a booming voice. He sings several forceful rock songs and a rap number. The Guard is the royal servant to King Saul. The guard does not appear to be particular bright and sucks up to the King. The Guard and King pairing are the “comedy act” of the show. Ability to play guitar a plus. Please indicate guitar experience in submission. Pop-Rock Tenor/High Baritone

[KING SAUL/JESSE/CASSIUS]
Late 30s-40s Male. Should be a versatile actor/comedian, who can bring life to King Saul but also play the truth of Jesse & Cassius. King Saul is father to Princess Mia and similar to the Monty Python tyrant character. He’s full of menace but funny with it, very unpredictable with a psychotic edge to his performance. Saul has a comedic song (think King Herod). Jesse is David’s father and deeply loves his son. He is warm, affectionate and playful, basically your average loving father. Cassius is Goliath’s father. He’s mean, nasty and full of contempt for his son. The complete opposite to Jesse. Baritone

[MIA]
Late teens – mid 20s Female. Princess Mia is daughter to King Saul and David’s girlfriend. Young leading lady. She has a ‘Lily Allen’ feel to her appearance & style, young, beautiful but with balls. She has a sweet innocence but is also determined, knows what she wants, and is constantly frustrated by David’s indecisiveness. David is the love of her life and her end game is to be with him no matter what. Pop Mezzo
